If you use an Intel Mac running OSX 10.6 or later (Snow Leopard), you can run Draftboard as if it were a native Mac application.

To run Draftboard as an app first download the free Fluid application from the Celestial Teapot website.

Setting up Draftboard in Fluid

When you first launch Fluid you will be greeted with the “Create a Fluid App” screen.

First you need to enter the ‘URL’ of the website that you wish to turn into an app.

In the first field marked “URL”, enter the URL that you would normally type into your browser to access your Draftboard account.

This would be https://yoursubdomain.draftboardapp.com/login

If you have Draftboard open in a browser on your computer and you are logged in you can simply copy and paste the URL from your browser into this Fluid field.

In the “Name” field you can enter anything you wish - this will become the name of your application.

Here is a free Draftboard App Icon that you can use instead of the favicon.

Once set up, Draftboard will work and feel like a native Mac application. You can even keep it in your dock.

I liked the product so much, I bought the company...

For those of you old enough to remember that was one of the better marketing slogans from the late 70’s early 80’s.

Victor Kiam was the American businessman who became famous for his advert saying “I liked the shaver so much, I bought the company” making Remington shavers an household name.

So did we like Draftboard so much we bought the company, well kind of, but as a good friend of mine once said “never let the truth get in the way of a true story”.

As a small web design and development company we actually signed up to use a service provided by one of the competitors to Draftboard. The problem with the service we originally signed up to use was the complicated setup and difficult to use workflows, sure it had lots of features, but we soon fell back into our old way of working and our account lay unused.

When we heard Draftboard was for sale from the original developers we decided to give online collaboration another look and we immediately fell in love with the app.

Gone was all the fluff instead just the tools we needed for our team to collaborate on our designs and mockups and get signoff from our clients.

So we ended up acquiring Draftboard and we are really looking forward to working with all the Draftboard users and developing the app further. We would like to thank Design Vectica for the original development, awesome job guys and wish them well in future. A great young team who we are sure will go on to even greater things.

To keep up to date with all the new developments at Draftboard you can follow us on Twitter and Facebook.

Free Trial

If you’ve yet to try Dashboard why don’t signup for a free 30 day no risk trial. You can change plans at any time and even downgrade to our free account.

Draftboard has new owners

We are pleased to announce that Draftboard now has new owners. Whilst the sale took place some time ago we have spent time recently learning all about how Draftboard functions. We think Design Vectica did a great job with the original development, we are now ready to build on that and take Draftboard forward. As a small web development company we really appreciate what Draftboard does, we appreciate its simplicity, the features you need without the bloat. However there is always room for improvement and we will continue developing and refining Draftboard and introducing new features over time. If there is anything you like to see incorporated into Draftboard let us know, we’re listening.

Annotations fixed

Recently, Draftboard underwent a brief period where annotations would not save on drafts if there were carriage returns in the description. We are pleased to report that this and other minor bugs have been repaired and that the system is once again fully-functional. If you notice something that’s not working or would like to suggest a feature for us to add in a later revision, please don’t hesitate to let us know.

Thank you for your continued support.

The Draftboard Team

You talked, & We've Been Listening

The acclaim regarding Draftboard’s recent launch has come as a pleasant surprise to all of us on the team, and we wanted first to thank you very much for your continued support. We have a few exciting announcements to make regarding new features, bug fixes, pricing, and more.

First and foremost, we got a few requests for markdown syntax to be enabled in posts and comments. For those who don’t know, markdown is syntax that allows you to style the text in your posts— you can bold and italicize text, create hyperlinks, and even have lines display as “code.” We’re proud to announce that markdown is now fully enabled for your convenience.

Second, we received a bug report or two regarding the ability to edit comments on drafts once they had already been posted. We’re pleased to inform you that you may now change comments you’ve already written, along with delete them or style them with markup.

Lastly, the plan upgrade page has been corrected and enabled for all users. If you find Draftboard useful for you and would like to add a few friends to your plan, your studio, or a company full of employees, it is now easily possible to do via the upgrade page.

Among these notable points are various system bug fixes, speed improvements, and interface changes that we hope will make your experience with Draftboard even more enjoyable. We would like to note that given the recent nature of the launch there are still plenty of hurdles to overcome and plenty of amazing new components to craft, so if you notice something that should be changed or you have a brilliant idea you’d like to see included in the next revision, don’t hesitate to let us know.

Thanks,

You can check out our website here.

A little bit about the app:

Draftboard is a web app that helps designers collaborate and receive feedback on their mock ups. Our goal for this app is basically providing designers a easier way in receiving their feedback and streamlining the process of approving mock ups. Designers can simply upload your mock up and their team or client can view the mock up and tag annotations, comment, and assign to-do’s.

We’re going to continue working hard on polishing the app and take every suggestion to heart. You can contact us by email or follow us on Twitter for updates. Otherwise if you’re a web designer give Draftboard a whirl and let us know what you think.

Thanks!

It helps web designers collaborate and receive feedback from their peers and clients. Personally, we’ve had experiences where mock ups would be sent back and forth via email and Draftboard helps centralize this process by tracking feedback in one place.

Our main features include:

Annotation

Add comments, questions, explanations, and other notes directly to the drafts you post. Just highlight an area of your design and start typing. This allows your clients and your team to easily illustrate their points.

Easy Collaboration

Share, discuss, and manage revisions of your mock ups with your team intuitively and effectively. No need to Email everyone anymore, centralize the communication in one easy place.

Upload files for your team

Draftboard easily allows you to share files with your team. Upload files such as mockups, ideas, images, text documents, or even music files.

Keep your ears peeled as we gearing up for launch. We would greatly appreciate if you could help us spread the word.

Thanks for reading and if you have any questions you can send them over to info@draftboardapp.com

Pixelvetica — The musings of a UI Designer: Feedback: Not just a kind of loud noise

Pixelvetica — The musings of a UI Designer: Feedback: Not just a kind of loud noise:

As designers and developers, we have to give and get feedback on things we’ve made, perhaps even more often than we actually create things. There is one cardinal rule of giving feedback, no matter who you are; plain and simple: if you give good feedback, you will get good feedback. What is “good…
